A pensioner who thought he was messaging an underage girl asked if she wanted to “see his penis” and repeatedly requested naked pictures.
But Wallace Jukes had actually been speaking to a member of the public who had set up a fake social media account in order to snare perverts.
The 70-year-old constantly asked for nude pictures of what he believed to be a 15-year-old girl called “Rach” – but was paid a visit by police instead.
Mr Hadfield said he persisted in asking for pictures of the teen’s breasts and would ask “when her mum was going to be home.”
He also asked to meet at a train station and sent the words “pics, pics, pics”
Jukes, who is married and has a family, bombarded the fake girl with explicit chat and was sentenced for attempted sexual communication with a child at Teesside Crown Court on Wednesday.
Harry Hadfield, prosecuting, said: “A member of the public set up an account on social media. It was set up with the view to identify men who wanted to meet under age girls.
“A fake profile of a young girl with brown hair called “Rach” was created.
Jukes, of Oakland Avenue, Hartlepool was given a 24 month community order and put on the sex offender register for five years.
He was also ordered to pay £635 costs.
